How Long Does It Take To Get A Six PackMany individuals ask – ‘How long does it take to get a six pack?’ and understandably so, it is perfectly natural to want to know how long it’s going to take, unfortunately it isn’t possible to give an accurate reply to every person reading this post, simply because we are all different shapes and sizes and some will train much harder than others.

So the only answer I can give about the time it takes to get a six pack is, that it is down to specific details!

The most important of these details is definitely your body fat percentage and you can work that out using the calculator below.

Weight (in pounds):
Waist Size (in inches):
Wrist Size (female only):
Hips Size (female only):
Forearm Size (female only):

Your body fat percentage is
The next consideration is how much body fat you can lose in a week. This can vary dramatically depending on how good your diet is and how much effort you put into working out. A good average is generally between 0.5% and 0.7% body fat loss per week but it is relatively easy to get this up to 1% per week.

There is one program, which is called Six Pack Shortcuts, which is designed to help you lose 1% and more each week through a specific diet and cardiovascular plan which is excellently combined with the muscle building program. You should check it out when you have the opportunity as it is a lot easier using a really good abs program

The last thing you will need to calculate is your target body fat percentage. This figure can vary depending on how well your abs are already developed, the more developed your abs are the higher the body fat percentage target will be, but a good final target percentage is 7%-8% for men and 11%-12% for women.

Now that you have all that information you can calculate how long it will take for you to achieve good six pack definition. Of course…this will only happen if you put in the effort and follow your chosen plan to the letter.

The Six Pack Formula!

The formula is quite straight forward but the result should still only be looked upon as an estimate because of the many different things that could enforce change during the course of your training.

Take your body fat percentage, subtract 7 if you’re male, 12 if you’re a female and then divide the answer by the amount of body fat lost per week, and that is it…simple! I’ll give you an example:

Say I have body fat percentage of 20% and I am targeting 0.8% fat loss per week, the calculation would look like this:

(20-7)/0.8 = ?

The answer would be 16.25 weeks.

For many people this may seem like a long time as most people would like to see results sooner but always remember that you could as much as halve the time calculated simply by being 100% committed to dieting and working out.

So, if you were looking for a definitive answer to the question ‘How Long Does It Take To Get A Six Pack?’ I’m sorry, I haven’t got an exact answer for you! But hopefully you’ve got enough information from this post to be able to get an idea of how long it will take for you to see your own six pack abs and should you decide to use a good abs program (please heed my suggestion!) you’ll have those abs you want a lot sooner than you think!!

Good luck and all the best,

Vince
