Reduce The Risk of Injury By Building Muscle Without Weights

You wouldn’t be alone in thinking that the only way to successfully build muscle is to use weights. For years people have been led to believe that this was the only way to build muscle but there is an alternative that produces equally impressive results, doesn’t require you to pay large amounts of money for a gym membership or buy expensive exercise equipment, which is also much safer and therefore reduces the risk of injury dramatically and that is building muscle without weights!.

Six pack shortcuts uses body resistance training to build muscle, for those who don’t know, body resistance training doesn’t require weights and uses the body’s weight to provide the resistance for building muscles without weights. In this post, I’m going to talk about an alternative to using weights that can improve your muscle building results really quickly and is a next step up from body resistance training.

The method of training that I’m going to tell you about for building muscle without weights is the use of resistance bands!

OK, I know you were probably expecting some new fangled exercise method or miraculous workout gadget, and perhaps you even considered clicking off this page as soon as you read – ‘resistance bands’, but trust me, you need to lose every preconceived notion you had about using resistance bands. What would you say if I told you that using resistance bands can jumpstart muscle growth and provide you with results that you would be amazed with very quickly indeed.

The reason why resistance bands work so well is that they improve the level of resistance in areas of high importance. A sudden sharp burst of high intensity band work produces rapid muscle growth and fast results. There is a key though to using resistance bands successfully, you will need to use enough resistance so that the number of reps you do is relatively low therefore the effort required to perform a set will be maximised.

As previously mentioned, another benefit that building muscle without weights offers is the much reduced possiblility of injury. When using weights you are required to utilize momentum during exercise, momentum is one of the main causes of training injuries. There is no momentum required when performing band exercises which therefore removes a large element of risk.

Although I have given the resistance band a pretty good write up here, I have to admit that once you get to a certain size, building muscle without weights becomes more difficult and switching to using weights is the better option. But for the first months of your training at least, when your muscles are at their weakest and MOST vulnerable to injury, there is no better or safer way to strengthen them than with resistance bands.

Should you decide that you want to start building muscle without weights by giving resistance band training a try you should make sure that you invest in commercial-grade bands as they offer higher levels of resistance and are less likely to break when being used.
